Population and Immigration Authority - ETA-ILBy CRG / Israel
Starting January 1, 2025, tourists traveling to Israel from visa-exempt countries will be required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA-IL). This system, launched by the Population and Immigration Authority, aims to pre-screen travel requests for these visitors.
What is ETA-IL? ETA-IL (Electronic Travel Authorization - Israel) is a digital authorization allowing tourists from visa-exempt countries to enter Israel. The system is similar to those in countries like the U.S. (ESTA), Canada (eTA), and Australia.
How to Apply for ETA-IL? Filling Out an Online Application: Travelers must provide personal details, passport information, and trip-related data.
Paying the Fee: The fee is paid online as part of the application process.
Receiving Approval: Once the application is processed, the digital authorization will be sent to the applicant's email.
Validity of the Authorization: The ETA-IL will be valid for two years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first. During this period, travelers can enter Israel multiple times without reapplying.
Recommendations for Travelers: It is recommended to submit the application at least 72 hours before the planned flight. Ensure that your passport is valid for at least six months from your date of entry to Israel.
Additional Information: For detailed information and to apply, visit the website of the Population and Immigration Authority. https://www.gov.il/en/departments/dynamiccollectors/ashrotzarim?skip=0 https://www.gov.il/en/departments/topics/eta-il/govil-landing-page
Remarks: There is an extensive list of countries that are exempt from entry visa to Israel. The regulation will put another burden on the potential traveler to Israel at a time this country is begging for more tourists. Some experts in the tourism industry criticize the new regulation as it puts more administrative burden on the potential traveler but right now – this is the new regulation that should be kept. |
