הודו הענקית הינה כידוע מדינה מאוד אטרקטיבית לפעילויות ישראליות של חברות וארגונים שונים.
לא מעט חברות ישראליות כבר פועלות בהודו ורבות אחרות מתדבקות על שערייה. עד כמה שניתן להעריך, המגמה תמשך ותתחזק לאור השיפור המתמיד של היחסים בין שתי המדינות והגברת הפעילות הכלכלית.
לעיתים, קורה שבת הזוג של העובד או אולי העובדת המועברת עצמה, זקוקים לשירותי טיפול בהריון ולידה ולא תמיד ניתן ואפשר לשוב חזרה לישראל למועד הרצוי. אם פעם נשים ישראליות ששרתו ברומניה נהגו לעבור לאוסטריה השכנה לימי הלידה, מצב זה בלתי אפשרי בהודו הענקית ואין גם מדינה שכנה ששירותיה בהכרח טובים יותר...

GIVING BIRTH

Expatriates making India their home, albeit for a short period quickly tend to realize this during their assignment period. Though their brief to take care of uncertainties prior to entering the country is usually contrary to what they finally learn.
Therefore when planning multiplication, many foreigners tend to return home to their comforts and familiar surroundings ensuring their child is born in an environment that they can best control. There are of course some who are more adventurous than others, and then some who are left with no choice to go through the delivery in this land of a billion plus people, where every sixth person in the world is born.
This article is therefore for the benefit of those future adventurers who may experience their child being born in this great cultural superpower called India, and how to manage this event and future actions post delivery.
The first advice is to ensure delivery happens in a hospital of the quality that equals that of a similar infrastructure back home and hence always chose a hospital or a nursing home not too far and those that accept their international insurance and satisfies their expectations. Make the doctor their best friend and ensure that all tests when ordered are carried out and every doctor’s appointment attended.
REGISTRATION OF BIRTH / NATIONALITY
As is expected, and unless god ordains otherwise, the delivery and post delivery would be smooth and perfect. Once delivery is complete, get hold of the Provisional birth certificate from the hospital prior to moving out. Take the copy of this Provisional birth certificate to the Municipal corporation office of the city/district and ensure registration of the birth and take a copy of the permanent birth certificate. Ensure the name of the newborn is made part of this Birth Certificate, as this would help in the future.
Once the birth certificate is secured, visit their embassy and have the embassy issue a passport for the newborn. As soon as the passport is secured, make an application with the Foreigners Section of the Ministry of Home Affairs and get them to issue an order directing your Foreigners Registration Office (FRO) to issue the necessary visa for the new born which will then be endorsed on the passport of the new born.
With the above process and steps complete, the new born is now travel ready and would start to enjoy the benefits of the expatriate assignment of the parents and be able to travel in and out of the Country and hence be able to meet close relatives and friends of the family who were unable to attend the birth due to geographical restrictions.
